With adventure around every corner, magnificent game-viewing, picturesque landscapes, and luxurious accommodations, it’s no wonder Lion Sands Private Game Reserve is one of Africa’s most celebrated destinations for travelers. Located in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Lion Sands offers its guests year-round game-viewing and delightful safari excursions. Since there are no fences between Sabi Sands and Kruger National Park, animals roam freely, making Lion Sands one of the greatest places to visit while on an African family safari, or honeymoon safari.

Some of Africa’s most precious treasures lie in the Lion Sands Game Reserve, making every visitor’s experience life-altering.

According to a Lion Sands Private Game Reserve’s ecologist report, the Reserve was a hot-spot for wildlife-viewing during the month of March 2009:

• Birds: A bird-lovers paradise, Lion Sands Game Reserve visitors boasted magnificent bird observations, which included: Eurasian Bee-eaters, Woodland Kingfishers, and Marabou Storks.

• Reptiles: Because of the dry / warm climate during the month of March, there were many reptile sightings throughout Lion Sands. The warm temperatures coaxed reptiles out of hiding, including: leopard tortoise, puff adder, flap-neck chameleon, Nile crocodile, and African rock python . . .

• Mammals: Lion Sands Game Reserve is famous for its awe-inspiring bio-diversity and is the perfect destination for travelers looking to see a high concentration of game. Some of Lion Sands’ greatest observations during the month of March included leopards resting in trees, mating, and eating. One of the Reserve’s most spectacular sightings in March was a male leopard stealing an impala kill from a female leopard in a tree.

Also, there were lion sightings nearly every day on the Reserve. The pride spotted frequently was the Southern Pride, which consists of two males, five females, and ten adorable cubs.

• The Big Five: The table below was taken from the Lion Sands Private Game Reserve’s ecologist report for the month of March 2009, and indicates the percentage of Big Five sightings during March:
