Honeymoons only happen once. Don’t you want yours to be the most memorable experience of your life? If so, a honeymoon safari in Botswana is the ultimate romantic getaway for you and your loved one.
With so many wonderful places to stay in Botswana, it can be difficult to find the perfect one that’s ideal for your honeymoon. Since each and every camp and lodge in Botswana differs from activities, ambiance, services, and amenities, it’s essential to find one that fits around your every individual preference. Whether you’re looking for the epitome of romance, or the adventure of a lifetime, Botswana has it all. With a variety of luxurious and intimate accommodations, and a wide range of more rustic and adventurous camps, Botswana is the ideal retreat for lovers.
Here are two of Hills of Africa Travel’s favorite honeymoon accommodations in Botswana:

Mombo Camp:
If you’re thinking of “camp” in the traditional sense of the word, then you’ve got it all wrong. Mombo Camp is comprised of nine canvas “pavilions,” which are completely unrelated to “pitched tents.” These raised, luxurious pavilions are connected by wooden walkways that serve as a canopy for Mombo Camp’s diverse eco-system. Each private pavilion provides guests with their very own en-suite facilities as well as a private outdoor shower and balcony overlooking a vast floodplain.
White linen-covered beds, his and hers washbasins, complimentary organic bath salts and
lotions, mahogany floors, and soft lighting fixtures are just a few features that are unique to Mombo Camp. In addition to a romantic interior setting, each pavilion has a private veranda, lounge chairs, and a walkway that leads to a private sala that is perfect for napping, observing wildlife, and soaking in nature.
Kwetsani Camp:
Situated among expansive floodplains and riverine forest-covered islands, Kwetsani Camp exudes a quiet and intimate atmosphere that’s perfect for honeymooners. The Camp’s five, tree-house chalets provides guests with a rejuvenating ambiance that’s ideal for relaxation after a day of game-viewing, sunbathing, or island excursions. Each chalet features en-suite facilities, a spacious living area, and an interior décor that’s reflective of the African bush. Built from thatch, wood, glass, and canvas, these nature-inspired chalets allow guests to remain immersed in Africa’s natural world, while experiencing sheer luxury.
With amenities including a dining ro
om, lounge and pub area, and a pool—which all overlook a sprawling floodplain—guests can constantly observe Africa’s bewildering wildlife. They can even observe residential red lechwe, wildebeest, and antelope from the privacy of their own chalet.
Activities offered by Kwetsani Camp include a variety of land-based, as well as water-based activities, depending on the annual flood levels. Guests can enjoy canoe (mokoro) safaris, island walking safaris, and a variety of game drives during both the daytime and nighttime. Since Botswana is comprised of many wetlands, a wealth of wildlife is attracted to the area. Animals often spotted on Botswana safari tours include lion, cheetah, leopard, African wild dog, red lechwe, hippo, antelope, and crocodile. In addition to its plethora of animal species, Botswana is also known for being a bird lover’s paradise. With exotic birds, such as the wattled crane, slaty egret, rosy-throated longclaw, and the pygmy goose, it’s no wonder bird enthusiasts love Botswana.

That place looks absolutely gorgeous! When the time comes for a honeymoon that’s where I’ll be.
Hi Britt – thanks for the comment. Botswana is such a beautiful country and the Botswana Government has made a huge effort to make sure that the game reserves are looked after in an eco conscious way, which is why Botswana safaris are more expensive than other countries. Each concession is very controlled, with smaller properties, and so the Botswana government is able to control the amount of tourists visiting.
Botswana is a very desirable safari vacation and you will be pampered as you deserve on your honeymoon. I can’t wait to help you!
I am sold! My five year anniversary is coming up. I hear Botswana calling.
