Volunteerism Meets Luxury Travel in Africa

African ImpactWorking toward establishing ourselves as leading ambassadors for eco-friendly travel, Hills of Africa Travel is dedicated to changing the way people experience travel. Travelers who want to experience more than a safari tour and an increase in cultural awareness can do so while on a trip to Africa that uniquely combines luxury safari tours with rewarding volunteerism opportunities.

We’re providing travelers with the unique opportunity to partake in any type of trip to Africa they choose. Therefore, if you wish to embark on an extravagant adventure safari in Zambia before volunteering in a local Cape Town village, you may do so. The opportunity for discovery is truly infinite on a trip that combines volunteerism and luxury travel.

One of our favorite volunteerism providers is African Impact. Each of African Impact’s volunteerism opportunities and projects allow travelers to explore a world and lifestyle that is both enriching and powerful in its spiritual impact.

With volunteers contributing nearly 90,000 hours of volunteering to numerous sustainable projects in 2009 alone, African Impact invites all travelers to produce a continent-wide impact on economical, social, cultural, and environmental issues affecting all countries of Africa. Each of their volunteerism opportunities works toward long-term solutions that can remain sustainable for years to come.

Below is a list of just a few volunteerism opportunities African Impact is currently offering to philanthropists, and curious and adventurous travelers:

Community and Orphan Care

Participating in volunteerism projects dedicated to the impoverished children of Africa is one of the most rewarding and moving experiences. And what’s even more rewarding is visualizing the measurable impacts you, as an individual, made on a community.

In hopes of enabling these children to live a better life and reduce the everyday stresses of poverty they constantly face, African Impact has created a variety of beneficial community and orphan care projects around Africa. Many of these projects allow volunteers to participate in building, painting, home based care, and teaching adult literacy, as well as participating in sustainable farming, and AIDS outreach work.

Some of these volunteerism projects include the Orphan and Teaching Project in Kenya, the HIV / AIDS Orphan Care Project in Zimbabwe, and the Teaching Assistance, Orphan Care, and Building Project in Victoria Falls.

African Impact’s Photography Volunteer Projects bring volunteers into Africa’s abundant wildernesses to snap photographs that are then submitted to local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for conservation education in the region. Volunteers will partake in a 3-day Wildlife Photography Conservation Education course in St. Lucia, South Africa, before going out into the field for a 3-week photography safari in some of Africa’s most renowned National Parks.

After participants’ photographs have been submitted to local NGOs, volunteers may then further their stay in Africa by participating in conservation education.

Some of African Impact’s current Photography Volunteer Projects include Masai Mara Big Cat, Wildlife Research and Conservation Project, and African Wildlife and Conservation Photography 2011.

Veterinary Projects

Because there are not enough adequate resources to reduce poaching, animal abuse, and habitat destruction, African Impact has created veterinary projects throughout South Africa that enable volunteers to receive hands-on experience as they accompany professional veterinarians in the field. Specifically, volunteers offer assistance in animal rehabilitation (both domestic and non-domestic), game fence construction, patrolling anti-poaching, snare sweeps, monitoring animal behavior, and much more.

Some of African Impact’s current Veterinary Projects include Veterinary Assistance and Abused Animal Shelter Project in South Africa, Lion and Wildlife Manager Internship in Zimbabwe, White Rhino Conservation Project in Zimbabwe, and more.

African conservation definitely needs volunteer organizations like this one , especially with the rhino crises southern africa is busy fighting against.

Colin, I completely agree. The volunteer organizations in Africa offer some of the most remarkable opportunities to help locals and wildlife. We always encourage volunteering!
